← ExploreDescription Los Cartagos held a particular place in Francisco Coto’s life and work. From his youth, he frequently visited this rural area, where his uncle, former president León Cortés Castro (1936–1940), owned a farm that the family often visited. Coto returned time and again, producing numerous series on its inhabitants, homes, landscapes, and scenes of everyday life. Together, these photographs form an intimate portrait of a community and a place with which he maintained a personal connection for decades.
