← ExploreDescription During his travels throughout Costa Rica, Francisco Coto frequently photographed from the road and, at times, incorporated his own means of transportation into the image. In this photograph, taken in Guanacaste around 1960, the interior of his Ford Falcon frames a cattle drive, an activity closely tied to the province’s ranching tradition. The steering wheel and dashboard place the viewer in the photographer’s position, revealing the vantage point from which Coto observes and records the scene.
